Believe In Yourself

The work on the new band has begun and I spent all day in my personal studio working with Joe Pearce (Lead Guitarist) working on some song ideas and we've come up with an uptempo track called; "Believe In Yourself". At the minute its acoustic but we plan on adding drums and bass etc when the other band members are available at a later date.

We thought it would be a good idea to see what you all think of the track so far... If you think its great so far, then wait til you hear the finished piece!

I have to say, Joe's guitaring is excellent!!

Painted Backdrops!

For the past 7 years, I have been involved in The Swallow Theatre, Children's Productions.

· Actor, Swallow Theatre, Whithorn (2001- 2003
· Assistant Stage Manager, Swallow Theatre, Newton Stewart (2003 - 2004)
· Stage Manager, Swallow Theatre, Whithorn (2004 - Present)
· Sound Technician, Swallow Theatre, Newton Stewart (2005 - Present)

Since 2005, I have been producing backdrops for the various productions held at the Swallow Theatre and for the first time now, your able to see them in the album "Painted Backdrops". All the backdrops I have produced are up there apart from one, in which the archive photo has been lost. This was based on a London (UK) street scene and was the first backdrop I ever produced.
Once its found, it will be uploaded to the album.

Please feel free to comment and tell me what you think.... I don't really if I'm being honest classify myself as an artist!! LOL

Exciting Stuff...

The other day there I was at work and a friend who is helping out organising the annual "Relay For Life" came in to say that he had put my name down for the entertainment set. I thought to myself, wow thats great but I then told him that its not just me (solo) anymore, but the band so now me and the band will appear at the event which as they agree will be awsome!!

I guess its a great oppurtunity to showcase new material along with a few covers which we are gonna throw in - but those, I ain't saying lol - lets call its a suprise (I hear you say, oh no, I hate suprises, the suspence is killin' me). I have one word for your thoughts - HA!!!

As with all gigs though, it goes by the rule that they are subject to change at any point in time but I'll keep posting with updates as of when I get them in... I have no idea when during the 24 hours it will be, that we'll perform, all I know its on Saturday 13th June 2008.

Apart from this bit of news, I was round at Joe's house the other day, which was great as we worked on a new song. I'd say its coming along okay and has lots of potenial. I love the tune mind you! Plus we tried out a new song "Open Road" which is, I'm trying to think of how best to describe it...errrrr.... BOMBASTIC, might be the word I'd use, not sure but its AWSOME!!!! I just love that song. Oh and might I add also, that we tried out a cover song which is a newish track by an old band but has the rock/country appeal.

Anyways, I dont like to keep people reading to long... don't you just hate those long pages of writing you had to read lol.. I like to kee things down to the point without going off at tangens etc... - You all get the point I'm tryin' to make, don't you???

From me and this journal til next time

New Update!

Time has past and another week is over.....

As you can see from the website, its had a small makeover. You may think, wow this site changes all the time and the truth is, I prefere to do that. If you keep something the same all the time, it does get a bit tired and therfore isn't attractive or enjoyable anymore.

You could say that with music aswell. If your touring, its always good to change the set every tour as then the audience would come again and not think "boy, its the same set as we saw last time round"....

Music over the past few weeks has been slow due to me having other things on my mind - that I wont bore you with, but on the up, you may well see me with a live band in the near future.

After talking to a friend, whos a great guitarist by the way, we've decided that doing my music live would be awsome and plans in the future could mean new material written by the whole of us, as a team! and result in a record at the end.... As to-date its all in the planning stages at the moment but I'll keep you posted on it.

One thing to say though, it won't be "Ross Pomfret and the......... band" I dont wanna do that nor does the others, so it'll be a fresh new band!!!!!!

Fuerteventura

Well this is me just getting back on my laptop after having a weeks holiday in Fuerteventura, which I must say was excellent!!! It was a different chain of hotels as before we had been with Iberostar which are class by the way, but we were at an Elba Hotel this October.

It was glorious weather, very hot and I managed to get a tan and keep it!! Hard for me as I'm not really a sunbed lover, so between that and walking alot, well my arms at least went brown - I wonder how long they will stay in the cold Scottish weather now?????

I do miss the place along with two new people who I met (you know who you are) - it was great meeting you and I hope we can chat sometime soon or in the future ;-) - to be honest, I am missing you alot!! only I wish I could of seen you sooner lol Oh and the walk we had on the last day - excellent - god, your so kind and nice to talk too :-). Also you were there when I was feeling rough on the last night - think it was the food (oops!!)

Something great which I did was visit the chipmunks everyday as they were on the rocks outside my hotel complex - very cute, and as I was away with the family (including cousins) - I have a photo of me with the wee fury guys - which I need to get of someone. Will post when I get it.... Also if youy sat around for ages, and do this when your quiet, then they come right upto you and think your okay - as long as you dont scare em lol

What am I like????

Moving on more, now this is so cool!! I got a slot in the evening entertainment and my cousins even managed to take photos and I think a video clip too so I must get em and post them here and on my myspace..... Thanks guys for letting me perform to fill in the time in the evening! Great experience and great audience too!!

People came up saying how good I was and one comment really sticks in my mind and a couple even said I was the best entertainment they'd seen there in their two weeks staying there - must be something eh? What a great compliment to recieve - thanks if you ever read this.

Another great couple I met were the girls parents/aunie and uncles. So laid back and they missed my performance which was sad, but I hope you see it sometime in the future - perhaps the album, once released???? Great folk with a great heart, I'd say!

So we arrived back last night and after a 3 hour trip home this morning after staying with the other family, I'm back and ready to get stuck back in with my coursework (maths) and my album - lets get this thing finsihed!!!!! Its gonna be brill I tell ya :-)

So bye from me for now and perhaps this is a little short but I can't think straight at the minute, so much seemed to happen (and this is without the champaigne I recieved after I performed that night!), so I guess I'll post more once I've filed it out in my head. As they say, your heads, I mean brain, is one big library......... lol

A Killer

Tis the last post before I fly out for a weeks sunshine.... lets hope its ALOT better than the scottish weather lol

Its a song I've re-recorded this past week here at home and its called "A Killer" aka "Its A Killer", you might of heard the old version, but since then, I've changed the arrangement and it now contains; Guitar (both electric and acoustic), bass, organ and piano - No drums!! I thought it sounded better without...

Give it a listen and let me know wat you think..... Beware its a demo :-) and it wont be on the new album, as I think its too dark for what I am looking at in the present time!

As they say in spanish (If I'm correct with my language); Adiós por ahora

New Music, New Site

Well Kind of......

The New site is here - what do you think of the new design? I really like, looks cool
More updates on the site to come soon including a brand new official store - so look out!

New music you might say.... well yeah there is in a manner of speaking. I was emailed by several songwriters in the Nashville area and Canada, as they thought their style would suit me. I have to say, it does - well from what I've heard so far.

The next few month will be tense. I'm planning on mixing the songs already recorded and I'll put snippets up on the site aswell. New songs to record and amogst all that I'm jetting off for a weeks holiday in the Canary Islands on the 18th of this month... Can't wait!!! I tell ya, its gonna be warmer than it has been in Scotland (I hope lol)

Your comments would be welcome and tell me what you would like on the site - the more the better.

Off now to my small home studio,

Meet Andy!

So I thought to myself; "yeah I think the album is ready to be sent of for the final stages", until I came across a great composer; Andy Gloyne....

I stopped by his site and I heard two fantastic pieces of music which to myself I thought "wow I really would like to have these on the album" - they are so dramatic and moving and made me listen on.

I got in contact with Andy and from there on we've ben working on adding one piece as an album intro and another as a intermission.

More will be uncovered once done, you can find Andy's site in the link section of the site.
I know it might sounda bit short but I must shoot and get tea!

A Few Notes.......

Its coming, coming, coming!! Once its released its gonna sound great - much has happened since I last posted June. (God that was a while back lol)

Seriously, there has. You have noticed that the site has been given a over-haul and seems to be much better than the old site.

As far as the album goes, well I've been speaking to a guy last minute, yes, last minute so thats putting the release behind but I heard a bit of music he's composed and I really really like it and I knew instantly it had to be on the album - trust me on it!

What Happened So Far??

I'm back posting in my journal, I see the last post was back in April; quite some time ago now.I have to say that I have something to tell you guys. I've been recording for the album and have completed 3 more songs, which are now been posted to a guy who I've used in the past for mastering and tweaking due to some minor things which I am not overly happy with at his studio... Just waiting for confirmation of it being finished.

Also if you don't know already, the album WILL be out this Summer, come on, its been a "Work In Progress" for ages now and I hear that you are dying to hear the final product - I hope you'll like it. You can now pre-order it for £7.99 from the Online Store.

Taking aside from the studio project I have to say June has well, been a bit grim up in Scotland. Hello where's summer????? God the rain, its poaring all the time - I want sunshine lol, I tend to work better when the suns out!

I have also been busy with the site's layout so I hope you all like. More to come soon.
Keep Havin' Fun

Reaching the End

Well its coming to the end of the school year now and I am finishing school this May, yes this May! From May onwards, I will be working every week on rehearsals for the Grease Night, which has been put back until 14 June (contact me for tickets) and completing my studio album. I heard a demo the other week back, from a songwriter in Canada and I really liked it so I contacted him and he's let me record it. If all goes well with the copyright laws and the filling out of forms, it should be on the album which is coming out this summer. I'm determind.

What else is on the horizon you might be asking? Well, as some may know, I am wanting to study Theatre Sound and Lighting and hence I have asked a friend if he'll let me tour with his show and learn on the job, mainly get some experience of what its like on the road and this will prepare me for Uni which I will hopefully start in 2009.
In August I am taking a long weekend away to see Meat Loaf once again... and yes... I'm still a huge fan, so that should be cool and whilst down there, I'll hopefully meet up with frineds and perhaps meet new ones ;-). I'll be treating my family away to it. I plan for the album to be complete by then as I said the John, Meat's drummer that I'd pass him on a copy of it once finished, when taling to him once.

That's about it for the time being. Watch out as there will be more photos of me in the studio, more music and a complete album for you to purchase! Stay tuned.

Please comment if you have anything to say and let me know what your thinking.....

Easter Greetings

It's that time again when we start seeing all the wee lambs taking their first breath of air as they arrive into the world. When people go to church to remeber Jesus who rose from the dead symbolising the tomb stone being rolled away and where children have fun rolling eggs down hills. The main part that reminds us of this celebration is the amounts of chocalate we tend to eat from given presents.... yes, its Easter!

I wanted to wish you all a happy Eatser and from this time onwards, we look forward for the Summer that lies ahead and what adventure's we'll get upto - for me thats finisheing the record.

FUNNY BUNNY

Little Easter, the comedienne bunny,
Tried too hard at being funny.
She juggled and she dropped the eggs
They fell and smashed between her legs.
Poor Easter left the stage in shame
And thought that she might change her name.
But then that bunny read this ad,
"This Sunday we need help real bad."
So Easter Bunny kept her name
And through the years has gained much fame,
When Easter's Sunday comes each year.
She delivers eggs and we all cheer.
