The aftermath!

Woh! what a great week it's been. After the production which was a one nighter I've had people coming up to me saying how awsome the show was and when can we see it again. Even the cast have been mobbed with questions and comments. It's totally fab!! There are plans to take it to a local theatre or two - for me that would be a highlight. Something I've produced and directed wants to be performed elsewhere - afterall, it enables people to see the show who are not able to visit the actual London/Broadway production.

I'm now back down to earth. Met a great person. Working hard and planning for the next production - hopefully they will want me to do another one next year - they've hinted it ;-)

Away to sort out flight boxes ful of audio/lighting equip.

I couldn't Resist....

So I just couldn't resist writing something else in the journal here. I'm in that kinda mood - it's like Twitter today aswell - I'm tweeting like buggery... Don't ask me why, cause it will prob read a load of pies! but I'm following that one simple question they ask you to reply to: "What are you doing?" - Sad I know, but hey ho!!

The widget for the tweets are now on the left hand side of the homepage next to this thing, well a taster of what is in each new blog - I don't know. Seemed liked a good idea at the time.

Oh and theirs some news too. Not just U Mania being re-released but soon I'm bringing out an EP which will feature a live track of a unreleased song. What can I say,. the man's a genious hahaha - I hear you cry "Yeah Right!!!" - Well I'll leave it up to you to decide.

Dam, betta be back to what I was mean't to be doing... Tweeting LOL.

Upcoming Busy Weeks

Okay, so, let me take a seat back a minute and look over what's to come in the next few weeks - I have to say it's real busy! What's the term they use??? errrr.... errrr.... yes: "So much to do, so little time". Now that's VERY true!!!!

I am currently directing/producing a production for the Village which I currently reside in for their annual Carnival Week. The production will be held on the 5th August 2009 @ 7:30pm (Tickets on sale now btw).

Besides rehearsing for that, I have been putting my CSS and HTML skills to the test and working on a website for the Port William Pantomime Company, to which I have been requested and will be co-casting for this years pantomime. Auditions for these will be 24th July 2009 but follow the link
here regarding more information.

On the music front however, I've launched Port Recorders which is on the homepage of my website for you to find out about, along with the website getting a spring clean, as I call it, a new look. OK I'm getting there - tis hard doing it all on your own lol...

On that note... I'm tired and wanna keep it brief - follow me on myspace and now Twitter - I tweet!! Really I do!!! Well thats what they all call this thing.... I think.... Am I right?

Summertime is here, where have I been?

Hey all! I've surfaced and am in my courtyard at this very second. Just finished planting some pots and am now taking it easy in the Scottish Sun - now thats a treat!

I have a project idea - I dont wanna tell you what it is because I want it to be a secret... It may work out it may not. Have I told you about my novel I thought of writing? I started it many months ago and ha! It's no near finished.... Come on, I am slow in the creative side as you can guess with this album - boy its real slow but I will get there..... sometime..... Look for it in the shops in 2020 LOL.... Joke

I'm currently directing/producing a show for our village carnival week. It should be awsome - amazing local cast and great songs too....

Anyway, I'm gonna go and rest up in the sunshine - might as well make the most of it.
Check out my music vid slides on
Utube - plus twitter too!

New Website coming soon by the way....

So more news anyone????

Well there's not alot of 'New' news but some since the start of the month, which is when I see I last wrote in the journal here. If you stop for a moment and think about the world and time, you begin to wonder, well that's what I do anyway. I sit alone sometimes during the day and wonder about the music, and me aswell. How I relate to music and the world... I'm not gonna go into some religious ramble so I hear you sigh in relief but that's what I have been doing.

The whole album project I'm doing may be about to evolve into something different - something completly new - taking away the whole issue idea of the theme I once had! Afterall, if you've ever been involved in some theatre production, and I mean the creative side, then you will realise that you begin with a stimulus and that it sooner evolves with ideas and something that you started of with, has turned into something different and hopefully something better. Thats the way I feel this album is going.

I've had some song ideas which I'm awaiting the tracks to arrive from the US before I have control over it. It's good as I'm getting more into it and I have a feeling that it could be a great album once done and hopefully you (the supporters) will like it aswell. I have a rock ability coming through but I guess we'll see......

Oh you may be wonder, 2008 - its gone - no sign of the album???! WHY?? Well this is why, I haven't had 100% satisfaction with it yet. I would sit in the studio at home and think, no I want to include this song onto it and remove this one and so on...

You may now be thinking, and.... 2009??? Is that the release of it? Well the answer to that is - I hope so!! But then again I could well be taking after my favourite artist of all time, my big influence in music, a friend who I learn from; Meat Loaf - he plans an album and it takes a good couple fo years... In my eyes, it has to be something thats gonna be great, magnificant, and sell! Don't you agree??

Oh its just come to me now... I have also got to say that I have been asked to write a pop style track along the lines of S Club, Britania High, for a High School Teen who is heading a project for primary schools, based upon moving from Primary up into High School. The idea of this, is that it will be released as a single and all proceeds will go to a charity of which has to be considered yet. I just though I'd add this one in. Its sounds good so far, though I feel like I wanna tweak something... I think I might ask a friend and see what they think of it... Us songwriter's have our contacts ;-) lol

I also have to mention that my tracks; "Three Wishes" and "UMania" if you didn't already know, are curently on sale at iTunes! Search for "Ross Pomfret" and you'll find me - I'm on the TEMA PRESENTS Compilation!!

Errr... I think that's all for the time being...

Oh, there's always something I leave out - haha, but I'll tell you anyways - make you have a giggle to yourselves... I got told on facebook by two girls who I knew of at school that I am their IDOL!! I laughed when they wrote that to me, but some men do have em'

Ross

PS> If you notice a spelling error, tell me lol... I've always been one for making em... Afterall, it is a personal blog I share with you :D

Believe In Yourself

The work on the new band has begun and I spent all day in my personal studio working with Joe Pearce (Lead Guitarist) working on some song ideas and we've come up with an uptempo track called; "Believe In Yourself". At the minute its acoustic but we plan on adding drums and bass etc when the other band members are available at a later date.

We thought it would be a good idea to see what you all think of the track so far... If you think its great so far, then wait til you hear the finished piece!

I have to say, Joe's guitaring is excellent!!

Painted Backdrops!

For the past 7 years, I have been involved in The Swallow Theatre, Children's Productions.

· Actor, Swallow Theatre, Whithorn (2001- 2003
· Assistant Stage Manager, Swallow Theatre, Newton Stewart (2003 - 2004)
· Stage Manager, Swallow Theatre, Whithorn (2004 - Present)
· Sound Technician, Swallow Theatre, Newton Stewart (2005 - Present)

Since 2005, I have been producing backdrops for the various productions held at the Swallow Theatre and for the first time now, your able to see them in the album "Painted Backdrops". All the backdrops I have produced are up there apart from one, in which the archive photo has been lost. This was based on a London (UK) street scene and was the first backdrop I ever produced.
Once its found, it will be uploaded to the album.

Please feel free to comment and tell me what you think.... I don't really if I'm being honest classify myself as an artist!! LOL

Exciting Stuff...

The other day there I was at work and a friend who is helping out organising the annual "Relay For Life" came in to say that he had put my name down for the entertainment set. I thought to myself, wow thats great but I then told him that its not just me (solo) anymore, but the band so now me and the band will appear at the event which as they agree will be awsome!!

I guess its a great oppurtunity to showcase new material along with a few covers which we are gonna throw in - but those, I ain't saying lol - lets call its a suprise (I hear you say, oh no, I hate suprises, the suspence is killin' me). I have one word for your thoughts - HA!!!

As with all gigs though, it goes by the rule that they are subject to change at any point in time but I'll keep posting with updates as of when I get them in... I have no idea when during the 24 hours it will be, that we'll perform, all I know its on Saturday 13th June 2008.

Apart from this bit of news, I was round at Joe's house the other day, which was great as we worked on a new song. I'd say its coming along okay and has lots of potenial. I love the tune mind you! Plus we tried out a new song "Open Road" which is, I'm trying to think of how best to describe it...errrrr.... BOMBASTIC, might be the word I'd use, not sure but its AWSOME!!!! I just love that song. Oh and might I add also, that we tried out a cover song which is a newish track by an old band but has the rock/country appeal.

Anyways, I dont like to keep people reading to long... don't you just hate those long pages of writing you had to read lol.. I like to kee things down to the point without going off at tangens etc... - You all get the point I'm tryin' to make, don't you???

From me and this journal til next time

New Update!

Time has past and another week is over.....

As you can see from the website, its had a small makeover. You may think, wow this site changes all the time and the truth is, I prefere to do that. If you keep something the same all the time, it does get a bit tired and therfore isn't attractive or enjoyable anymore.

You could say that with music aswell. If your touring, its always good to change the set every tour as then the audience would come again and not think "boy, its the same set as we saw last time round"....

Music over the past few weeks has been slow due to me having other things on my mind - that I wont bore you with, but on the up, you may well see me with a live band in the near future.

After talking to a friend, whos a great guitarist by the way, we've decided that doing my music live would be awsome and plans in the future could mean new material written by the whole of us, as a team! and result in a record at the end.... As to-date its all in the planning stages at the moment but I'll keep you posted on it.

One thing to say though, it won't be "Ross Pomfret and the......... band" I dont wanna do that nor does the others, so it'll be a fresh new band!!!!!!

Fuerteventura

Well this is me just getting back on my laptop after having a weeks holiday in Fuerteventura, which I must say was excellent!!! It was a different chain of hotels as before we had been with Iberostar which are class by the way, but we were at an Elba Hotel this October.

It was glorious weather, very hot and I managed to get a tan and keep it!! Hard for me as I'm not really a sunbed lover, so between that and walking alot, well my arms at least went brown - I wonder how long they will stay in the cold Scottish weather now?????

I do miss the place along with two new people who I met (you know who you are) - it was great meeting you and I hope we can chat sometime soon or in the future ;-) - to be honest, I am missing you alot!! only I wish I could of seen you sooner lol Oh and the walk we had on the last day - excellent - god, your so kind and nice to talk too :-). Also you were there when I was feeling rough on the last night - think it was the food (oops!!)

Something great which I did was visit the chipmunks everyday as they were on the rocks outside my hotel complex - very cute, and as I was away with the family (including cousins) - I have a photo of me with the wee fury guys - which I need to get of someone. Will post when I get it.... Also if youy sat around for ages, and do this when your quiet, then they come right upto you and think your okay - as long as you dont scare em lol

What am I like????

Moving on more, now this is so cool!! I got a slot in the evening entertainment and my cousins even managed to take photos and I think a video clip too so I must get em and post them here and on my myspace..... Thanks guys for letting me perform to fill in the time in the evening! Great experience and great audience too!!

People came up saying how good I was and one comment really sticks in my mind and a couple even said I was the best entertainment they'd seen there in their two weeks staying there - must be something eh? What a great compliment to recieve - thanks if you ever read this.

Another great couple I met were the girls parents/aunie and uncles. So laid back and they missed my performance which was sad, but I hope you see it sometime in the future - perhaps the album, once released???? Great folk with a great heart, I'd say!

So we arrived back last night and after a 3 hour trip home this morning after staying with the other family, I'm back and ready to get stuck back in with my coursework (maths) and my album - lets get this thing finsihed!!!!! Its gonna be brill I tell ya :-)

So bye from me for now and perhaps this is a little short but I can't think straight at the minute, so much seemed to happen (and this is without the champaigne I recieved after I performed that night!), so I guess I'll post more once I've filed it out in my head. As they say, your heads, I mean brain, is one big library......... lol
